The ruby-colored 1998 Grands-Echezeaux reveals plums and wild
red berries in its aromatics. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and
concentrated, this wine has a chewy, asphalt, licorice, and jammy
blackberry-flavored core. While it is firmly structured, it
should have the requisite depth of fruit to survive its tannins
at least in the short to medium term.
Anticipated maturity: now-2006.
